Shivpuri Wildlife Tour
Program Itinerary:
Day 01. Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport where our representative will meet you and transfer to Park Village Resort, an eco-friendly hotel on the foothill of Shivapuri National Park. Welcome drinks and refresh in the Hotel. You can stroll around hotel garden, which is spread over 6 acres of jungle with lots of flowering plants, birds and butterflies and can enjoy the bird watching. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02. Kathmandu City Sightseeing Tour
Breakfast in the morning. Today we will visit the major sightseeing highlights of Kathmandu Valley reflecting culture & tradition, historical importance, art & architectures – Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa & Swoyambunath Stupa (The Monkey Temple). Overnight at Hotel.
Day 01. Hike to Shivapuri National Park
Climb up from entrance gate towards Nagi Gompa, a Buddhist monastery. On the way we stop for birding at Pani Muhan which is a reservoir of the Shivapuri watershed area. It is an excellent place to watch forktails, redstarts, kingfisher, blackbirds etc. Main vegetation consists of Alder woods, Schima-Castanopsis forest, Mixed Oak-Laurel forest, and shrub lands with wild yellow raspberry, barberry, Gaultheria, etc.
Pack-Lunch at Nagi Gompa with overwhelming view of Kathmandu valley. From Nagi, climb up towards Deurali. Vegetation in this region is composed of mixed oaks and laurel forest. Common orchids include Coelogyne. On the way possible sightings are barking deer, wild boar, himalayan black bear, yellow-throated marten, flying-squirrel. Bird includes kalij pheasant, common hill partridge, booted eagle, black eagle, steppe eagle, crested serpent eagle, laughing thrushes, sunbirds, tits etc.
From Deurali, go to Sipucho Summit (2730m), see panoramic view of Himalaya including Manaslu, Langtang, Gosainthan, Mahalangur, Gauri Shanker. Usual sightings of birds are hoary barwing, eurasian jay, white collared black bird, Nepal cutia, wren babbler, green pigeons, woodpeckers, bar tailed cuckoo dove etc. Mammals include serow, goral, langur and rhesus monkey.
Vegetation at summit is composed of pure Himalayan oak (Quercus semecarpifolia) forest, the branches covered with hanging moss (Usnea) and variety of orchids. Major tree species includes unique three-colored Rhododendron arboreum, Holly tree, wild Himalayan cherries (in blossom during autumn), Himalayan Yew (Taxus wallichiana) and Michelia doltsopa. Shrubs like Pieris formosa, Old man’s beard (Clematis montana), and herb like giant lily (Cardiocrinum giganteum), wild strawberry (Fragaria), Campylandra aurantiaca, etc are seen. Day 02. Back to Park Village
An incredible view of sunrise over the Himalaya from the camp site and have breakfast. Then we descend from Vishnudwar with enchanting views of picturesque waterfalls and birding includes Slender billed scimitar babbler.Lunch at Pani Muhan. And continue drop down to reach park Village Resort. Overnight at Resort.
Day 03.Departure
After breakfast departure to the airport for onward destination.
